Regulation D

Regulation D (Reg D) is a directive of the Federal government, imposed on all financial institutions (banks and credit unions). To maintain compliance with Reg D, we are instructed to place a monthly limit on certain kind of transfers and/or withdrawals from SAVINGS ACCOUNTS.

Savings account transactions that count toward Reg D include the following:
-Overdraft transfers -ACH withdrawals by third parties -ACH Transfers to deposit accounts (loan accounts do not count)
-Internet Banking transfers -Transfers done by Mobile Banking -Payroll transfers -Phone banking transfers whether by an employee or our Telephone Tellers

Reg D allows for six (6) of these types of transactions. After six, you will be charged $3.00 per transaction. This fee will begin June 1, 2016.

UNLIMITED TRANSFERS (no-fee) include anything done in-person at any Western Sun location, transfers to a Western Sun loan or ATM transactions.

Please contact a Member Rep if you feel that you use your savings account more frequently and wish to open a transactional account (checking account).

Debit Card Restrictions and limits
Debit card restrictions and limits are established in order to help protect your account(s) from fraud. We receive notification as soon as situations happen and place limits on card usage to protect not only you and your money, but the credit union as well. Korea has a $50 limit on all non-PIN transactions. Nigeria has been added to the list for all transactions.

Unfortunately, fraud in pharmacies and drug stores like Walgreens as well as variety stores like Dollar General in Arkansas, Alabama, Illinois and Missouri has increased. In order to protect your account, we have set a limit of $75 per transaction in these types of stores. If the amount is over $75, the transaction will be denied. If you are making a purchase in a store like CVS, Dollar Tree, Walgreens, etc.  in one of these states and WANT a transaction over $75 to clear, you will need to use your PIN. Illinois also has a $75 restriction at grocery stores.

Please take time to review your transactions. We provide multiple ways for you to do this regularly such as Internet Banking, Mobile banking and our Mobile App. Please contact us immediately if there are any discrepancies.
