Our History
Western Sun Federal Credit Union began in 1940 when employees and family members of the Barnsdall Oil Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma, pooled their resources to form a cooperative financial institution. They called it Tulsa Be Square Federal Credit Union. The name was changed in 1963 to Tulsa DX Federal Credit Union. In 1970, our name changed to Western Sun Federal Credit Union. Over the past 60+ years, there have been many changes in the world, but one thing remains the same... our excellent service and our joy to see members, new and old come in to Western Sun.
In 2001 Western Sun received their Community Charter allowing individuals who work, worship, live, volunteer or attend school in Tulsa or Okmulgee counties to become members.
